MISSION STATEMENT

The department of Ambulance Services provides prompt transportation and initiates pre-hospital care for patients/clients in both emergency and non-emergency situations. It provides service based on the individual's needs with respect for human dignity within our defined areas of responsibility.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

1. Respond to all ambulance calls within an acceptable time frame, in a safe and courteous manner, according to the Ambulance Act and other relevant legislations.

2. Primary and secondary patients/clients assessment of injuries and medical conditions.

3. Provide treatment to patients/clients assessed within the scope of training with the protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Sudbury Base Hospital.

4. Provide safe transportation of patients/clients according to the Highway Traffic Act.

5. Assist in the Emergency Room and respond to Code Blue calls throughout the hospital.

Ambulance Services coverage is from the Township of Fauquier in the east, to Opasatika in the west, and all of the bush operations of North and South of the region and Ontario Power Generation.

This service has one on-line vehicle as well as two services spares, and an Emergency Response Unit trailer.
