The Infection Control Program at Sensenbrenner Hospital enables health care workers and associated personnel to maintain a high level of infection control practices and measures in order to prevent further transmission of infectious diseases, to reduce the occurrence of infectious diseases, to maintain a healthy environment, and to encourage and teach healthy hygiene practices.


1. To provide current information about the infection control policies, procedures, practices and guidelines in Sensenbrenner Hospital.

2. To ensure that infection control practices and measures are carried out correctly and appropriately.

3. To develop an effective reporting system whereby the health care worker will be alerted to any infections and infectious diseases in the hospital, community and other health care agencies.

4. To formulate an environmental monitoring system in order to discover the presence of any infectious agents or work practices which may cause or contribute to infections, infectious diseases or similar injuries to health.

5. To collaborate with other health care agencies in promoting infection control and prevention through environmental studies, reporting of infectious diseases (as required) and gathering data about infections.

6. To provide an advisory and technical service to all hospital departments regarding matters pertaining to the prevention and control of infection and infectious diseases.

7. To promote an awareness of infection control and prevention to health care workers, patients/clients and visitors
